RACE SUMMARY
8/2, 3/03: Second Creek Doule Regional

It was a great weekend for racing at Second Creek and the big
story of the weekend was the return of the familiar yellow machine of Jason Ott. Also back to the track after a long absense was Jim Millard with a fresh motor. In total, there were six S7's for Saturday's race. I watched from the sidelines and saw Rob Winter hold the lead for a lap and with new tires had a noticable push going through turn 1. That allowed Jason to grab the lead and he would go on to win. There was still plenty of good racing as Rob and John Kyer spent the race fighting for 2nd. Towards the end John got around and pulled away. Jackie Ruegsegger was side by side with Jim Millard for a good portion of the race until a bobble in Kamikazee allowed Jim to pull away. Unfortunately for Jim, mechanical woes ended his weekend early and he was unable to race Sunday.

On day 2, I wanted to take a stab at Jason. Unfortunately I had to
miss practice due to a couple of rounded lugnuts that kept me from getting
my street tire off. Thanks to Dave Ott who torched the damn thing and got
me out on the track in time for qualifying. Mark Miller, Steve Ott and
Mike Walsh were no-shows, but we had a new driver, Tony Tuka renting one of Jim Christian's S7's. For the race, Rob, once again was able to hold the lead for almost a full lap. I followed Jason wherever he went and was in
2nd trying to hold off John and Rob. The three of us were nose to tail for
a chunk of the race until John got around in Spectator's Hook. He pulled
away while Rob and I fought hard and amazingly clean for the rest of the
race which ended with Rob and I dragracing to the line with Rob getting 3rd by a few feet! In the end, I'd have to say that was the most fun I've ever
had racing, so thanks to John and Rob for allowing that. It was nice seeing
Jason on the track even though it was from a distance. Up next in three weeks is Second Creek in the other direction. I'll be watching anyway and if I get rich by then, I may be running. Cya then!! Jay B. #6

SPEC MIATA T-SHIRTS DEBUT
We also debuted out Spec Miata T-shirts this weekend. They
seemed to be a big hit and we've had several of the Miata driver ask to buy one too! SO...if you didn't get one and would like to order any shirts, please contact Annie annie@signedge.com with quantity and sizes needed. They were $10 each which covered materials and labor. We sold the extra ones we had.

COLORADO NATIONAL SPEEDWAY UPDATE
Don't forget CNS is coming up Sept. 6th. We really want to see
at least 16 cars there this year. The purse goes up $500 if we have that
number show up. It's a Saturday night, so you don't have to take off work
to make it. I have some forms for everyone to fill out and need to know
who's planing on being there. So please let me know ASAP
annie@signedge.com. You also might want to have some driver cards made up to pass out. A picture of you and your car works well.

DENVER GRAND PRIX
If you haven't volunteered to work the Grand Prix, it's not too
late. Registration was to end Aug. 1st, but they are going to keep it open
to the end. They can use drivers to pick up and deliver workers, lunches,
work the membership booth and other jobs. Go to www.coloradoscca.org to register. If you want to make any donations to the workers parties, I am
in charge of collecting that money. The SM's donated $315 last weekend!
Jim Millard has donated 400 ear plugs and I have supplied 350 lip balms.
Make checks out to SCCA and mail them to me P.O. Box 162, Nederland, CO 80466. Thanks, Annie
