UPDATED: January 15th, 2002
The Rocky Mountain Division SpecRX7 points series has it's own unique scoring system and a partially inverted starting grid.
Everyone who races earns points. More points are awarded when more cars show up. Points are also earned in qualifying, in support of our partially inverted starting grid.
Qualifying: Each qualifying session determines the grid with the top half
of the field inverted. If there is an odd number of participants, subtract one and
then invert (rounding down).
The top half of the field (the inverted cars) will be awarded points for qualifying.
The quick formula is:
1st qualifying = Number of cars / 2 + 1
2nd qualifying = Number of cars / 2 - 1
3rd qualifying = Number of cars / 2 - 2
4th qualifying = Number of cars / 2 - 3
5th qualifying = Number of cars / 2 - 4
and so on. This results in half or less than half points being awarded for
qualifying. As with the inverted start, when there are an odd number of cars,
round down.
Half Inverted Start
The top half of the starting grid will be inverted, rounded down to the nearest even
number of cars.
Race: The points system is based on the number of cars.
The quick formula is:
1st place = Number of cars +3
2nd place = Number of cars +1
3rd place = Number of cars -1
4th place = Number of cars -3
5th place = Number of cars -4
6th place = Number of cars -5
and so on.
A driver's best 8 races in the Rocky Mountain Division SCCA 2002 Regional Race series and Colorado National Speedway SpecRX7 Races will be counted for the points championship.
Tie Breakers:
All ties will be settled according to the GCR, National Championship racing
guidelines, Section 16.2.2 (Ties)
